Real Madrid have been relatively quiet in the transfer market by their standards so far this summer.
But if any of you expect that to last then perhaps you should think again. We can’t remember the last time that Real Madrid didn’t make a major move in the transfer market during the summer window and we fully expect them to do so again before September.
Having spent time assessing his squad new Real Madrid head coach Rafael Benitez is apparently closing in on a move for the sublime German international Marco Reus.
British media outlet The Liverpool Echo reported today:
Liverpool are to receive a crushing blow in their hopes of making Marco Reus their new record signing with Real Madrid set to beat them to the signature of the German international.
For our money, this is one of the very best players in the world who is potentially available on the transfer market this summer. Of course, his club will have no intention of selling him. But, as many of the big sides have found out, when Real Madrid come calling it is difficult for any player to resist.
At 26 Reus has flown a little bit under the radar over the last year due to an injury which deprived us of his spectacular talents at The World Cup in Brazil 2014.
Had he played in that tournament we think that he would already have signed for a huge club. But this summer could well be that time.
He’s quick, effective, elegant and incisive. He rarely gives the ball away, scores goals and creates for others.
While his signing may well bring into question the futures of the likes of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, it’s a lovely problem for Real Madrid to have.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Real Madrid fans: is this the perfect summer signing?
