Comfortably Manchester United’s Best Player vs Club America

tactics-board1

Great Start

Manchester United’s first game of pre-season was particularly interesting because of the amount of new players on show.

Manchester United usually take a rather coltish looking squad out for pre-season.

But with transfer deals done early and only The Copa America on this summer, United were shorn only of their Argentinian contingent for this one.

And what of the newcomers? Memphis Depay was possibly the most disappointing of the new recruits.

He looked raw and, even though he was played through the middle in his 45 minute debut, he rarely got into the game as he would have liked.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was excellent in the second half and looked as if he had been playing for Manchester United for years.

He’s a natural leader and he took on that role very well in the centre of the midfield.

If he can stay fit he will be a great purchase.

But, not simply because of the goal, Morgan Schneiderlin had to be considered the most impressive performer on the night.

We felt that this was a deal which was crucial for Manchester United going forward and nothing we saw in his first half outing changed our minds.

He’s such an energetic player but no headless chicken. He is controlled, intelligent and technically gifted.

He harried, tackled and also got forward surprisingly regularly and to good effect – as the goal exemplified.

The Frenchman is tall and elegant like Michael Carrick but a busier player who rarely stops to take a breather.

We very much like the look of him and he and Bastain Schweinsteiger will completely transform Manchester United’s engine room in the coming campaign.

Let’s see his best moments.
