Tottenham

PICTURE: This Tottenham XI could surprise people next season

Virtually every team got Kaned last season

A winger short of top four

Tottenham fans still want to see some major investment this summer. They need to get rid of their dead wood up top to start with. Then they can add another live wire striker to give Harry Kane some proper support and competition.

But the defensive additions have been superb and we think that, if they bring in anotehr top anchor man they will have a really strong look about them next season

Defence

Add Trippier and Alderweireld to Vertonghen and Rose and Tottenham will at last have a credible defence. They have always had good defenders, but seldom a unit this strong. It at last gives them a proper foundation on which to build. Pace in the wide areas and Flemish strength through the middle.

Midfield

We are huge fans of Bentaleb. Mason and Dembele are solid. But, with Paulinho and Capoue gone Tottenham need to sign one more midfield dominator. We think James McCarthy would be an excellent addition. He is extremely hard working but also a lovely passer of the ball. He and Bentaleb would provide a solid bass from which to attack.

Attack

Tottenham have one of the best strikers in the league. Another young forward with real talent would be useful for the squad. But we also strongly believe that another winger would very handy. Lennon looks likely to leave and Chadli and Lamela need to deliver more frequently. We think that Shaqiri or Griezmann would be a perfect additions.

Here is how we would like Tottenham to line up next season. And it’s a team which we think could cause all sorts of problems for big opponents.

Total bollox… no need to sign any other MF players other than perhaps a defensive one… Thank goodness you’re not in charge of Spurs scouting… Are you Franco Baldini in disguise?

If Stambouli goes (which is likely) then there is only Bentaleb, Mason, Carroll, and Dembele (although I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get sold as well. Poch’s tactic is a high pressing 4-2-3-1. As a bare minimum you need 4 CM so each 1st team CM has a back up. As much as I like Carroll, Bentaleb and Mason, I don’t think they are good enough to anchor a midfield aiming for top 4. Now, I don’t know enough about McCarthy to say whether he is good enough either, but I wouldn’t mind him or someone of that level to bolster the midfield with another CM who is a bit older that the younger players can learn from in training. Having a young first team is exciting and shows a lot of potential, but when you look at all of the best teams there is a mix of youth and experience.

I see no signs Pochettino will stray away from inverted wingers. If we signed Shaqiri he would be played on the right and Townsend would probably leave. However Inter may only deal if Lamela goes the other way and I don’t like that trade. I’m happy to have Chadli on the left but we need an alternative beyond simply playing Eriksen and Pritchard out of position. Carrasco has gone (that was a wishful signing anyway) so it’s time to rethink. I would like to see Berahino. Although he is more of a striker he could kill two birds with one stone. A lot of his goals came from racing through off the left last season and he would be a great sub at the very least. Whether or not he has the discipline to play that position regularly is dubious, but with Chadli Eriksen Pritchard and Berahino as alternatives we would be well stocked in the left.

Would much prefer to see Dier to jan, too lightweight for me, we defo need a striker, prefer Austin to berahino, but I think the 2 in midfield from last season will be much stronger for a season in the prem, but am really hoping pochdoesnt send dele or Pritchard out on loan, they have to feel wanted, great talents

That is a decent team, if we can get Shaqueri, Mccarthy and Berehino then we do some damage next season, getting rid of Kaboul, Fazio, Chiches, Stambouli, Towsend, Soldano and Adey, will give us a decent suplus, plus bring the wage bill down

We really should go all out to snatch Schneiderlin now Man U have signed Schweinsteiger from Bayern.

Also Benteke, we are desperate for a proven young Class striker, using Townsend and Adebayor would hopefully swing it.
