We had a strong feeling that Real Madrid would attempt to sign Paul Pogba this summer.
And when Zinedine Zidane expressed a public liking of the lad we very much expected that he would be the main target for the transfer window.
Now that Arda Turan has gone to Barcelona their interest in Pogba may have waned and we may still see Real Madrid move for the Frenchman.
But recent reports have linked Madrid with a more experienced midfield dynamo, with reports in Chile, over the weekend, even suggesting that a deal had been agreed between Juventus and Real Madrid for the services of the brilliant Arturo Vidal.
If he did come to Los Blancos he would expect to start every match – this is, after all, a household name in global football terms and one of the form players in Europe right now. So where would he play?
Real Madrid love the 4-2-3-1 formation and we expect them to continue with that next season. If they do, it’s a straight decision of who to drop out of Kroos and Modric – such a difficult one and we are leaving Kroos out for now.
Alternatively Real Madrid could go 4-3-3 and use all three of their superb central midfielders, with James Rodriguez being benched, like so:
But we prefer the first formation. Real Madrid fans: who would you drop to make room for Vidal?

Neither is a good choice. Real lacked a defensive midfielder last season and buying Vidal is not going to solve this issue. It’s exactly the same as when they bought Beckham to replace Makelele. Vidal had been playing a much more advanced role in Juve, a no10. Trying to put him back into a DM will probably not work, just like it didn’t work with Kroos.
