This really is big news. We have speculated for weeks about the futures of several Manchester United stars and one of those who has been the subject of most scrutiny is Robin van Persie.
He had one great season at Manchester United and two average ones. Now, at 31, he seems one-paced and less lethal than ever.
And The Guardian reports today that he has agreed personal terms on a move to Fenerbahce in Turkey.
The Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie is edging closer to a move to Fenerbahce after reaching an agreement in principle with the Super Lig side.
It is understood that Van Persie’s agent, Kees Vos, has been in Istanbul for the past two days, involved in negotiations with the Turkish club to secure a deal. The two clubs are currently negotiating a fee for the 31-year-old, who has agreed personal terms with the club and is ready to sign a four-year deal.
Van Persie has scored a highly creditable 57 goals in 105 games for Manchester United. But 30 of those came in his first season at the club. His second and third season saw 18 and 10 goals respectively. He spent large swathes of last season injured and a move to another club now seems like the best move for all parties.
With RvP and Falcao leaving the club Manchester United only have one senior striker in Wayne Rooney. With James Wilson, 19, unlikely to be trusted to carry the goal scoring burden alone if Wazza is injured, it seems inevitable that the club will invest in a new striker this summer.
Let’s see RvPs best moments for the club. Manchester United fans: the best time to sell?
