This is a bit of a strange one. The Telegraph writes that Arsenal could be at risk of losing Santi Cazorla to Atletico Madrid, who in turn look certain to lose Arda Turan to one of the elite clubs in Europe over the next few days.
But they also go on to suggest that that Arsenal could be one of the bidding parties for the Turkish delight. They say:
‘Atletico Madrid eye Santi Cazorla as Arsene Wenger closes in on Arda Turan’
While many Arsenal supporters would be unhappy to see Cazorla leave in the summer, the arrival of Turan may go someway to softening the blow.
The Atlético winger has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League and may be part of a deal that sees Cazorla make the switch to the Calderón.
It’s impossible to know for sure who has been bidding for the brilliant winger, who is the captain of Turkey with 81 caps to his name. But the received wisdom on this was that Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and PSG were the most serious suitors.
Either way, we should get a resolution soon, with the agent of the player saying on Tuesday:
“We want to clarify that at this time there is a lot of pressure about this situation but we don’t want to make a formal statement about his destination before he signs. That being said, in the next four days Arda will decide which team he’ll play for next season.
Cazorla would be a big loss for Arsenal. He arguably had his best season at the club in the last campaign and, although now in his thirties, he looks fitter than ever in the midfield.

But the signing of Turan would have to be seen as an upgrade, even if they generally occupy different positions. Turan is also adaptable but tends to play on the right of midfield more often than not and loves to dribble with the ball. He has supreme close control and is as composed as they come.

The fake fans are the grovelling A.K.B.’s like you, that elevate the interests of the manager above the interests of the team. The REAL fans are the ones who want better for our club. If achieving glory via winning the league or Champions League is “boring” for you, then how much MORE boring is it to have come nowhere near either of these two objectives for at least the last eleven years ( and counting ) ? Just a very good striker and a defensive midfielder is the missing link in the team now. Once those areas are plugged then we are good to go.

Whats that smoke @ Emirates without fire…. I think our needs to make a descent squad is now well known to all. Cech inn, get a defensive midfielder and a descent striker Laccazate/Benzema or Cavani. early for them to face Chelsea in Shield Cup to send a message to the entire league competitors.

Guys Cmon….. Understand that even if this deal goes through…. it is a good deal…. Turan is young and Santi is getting old and hence this deal would prepare us for future…
