PICTURE: Arsenal’s best XI come September with Cech and strongly linked maestro

Oh how we would love to see what Arsenal could do if they really did flip the nuts in the transfer market this summer.

They have started so well, with the addition of Petr Cech. And while another real beast of a centre back wouldn’t go amiss, the areas that we feel Arsene should prioritise now are those of the anchor man and striker.

Gabriel Paulista looks like a tasty addition and we have to hope that he can form a solid partnership with Laurent Koscielny next term.

But, while Francis Coquelin had a great season, we still have reservations about his ability to affect games at the very top level of European football. At any rate, a really top squad has more than one defensive midfielder – look at Matic and Ramires at Chelsea for example.

William Carvalho is the latest to be heavily linked and we have no doubts that he would be a sensation at Arsenal, just like he was at the U21 Euro Championship this summer. The 23 year old is a star in the making and has the physical and athletic capabilities to take Arsenal up a notch. He is also a wonderful passer of the ball.

Up top we would love to see Benzema or Higuain come in – proven class. But Alexandre Lacazette has been linked of late and he would make a compelling case to start ahead of countryman Olivier Giroud at number 9 for Arsenal.

So here is how we think that Arsenal could line up come August. Gunners fans: is this a noticeably better team than the current XI?

what bullshit!…you have reservations about coquelin’s ability to
affect games at the very top level of European
football…so you replace him with carvalho??..you are just one of those who hear of players off the internet…did you see carvalho play last season???…he was piss poor…and an U-21 means very little when we are talking about elite club level football…even guidetti was a star at that tournament, he cant even make city’s reserves…anyways if coq doesnt have european football experience. .how much of that does carvalho have???…smh….he plays in sporting lisbon FFS…they hardly even qualify for the ucl…your statement should rather have been ‘Coquelin wasbt bought for 30m or more so I’d rather we sign a player for that amount so he replaces him’…because clearly thats what you sound like
