Manchester United will look to buy some stellar names this summer but, in order to do so, they will have to get rid of a lot of the dead wood to make space for the newcomers.
And, just like Anderson, Portuguese international winger Nani was just starting to hang around the place like a bad smell.
He had one really good season when he threatened to break the mould of his formative years and start to show the consistency required of a top star at Manchester United. But that was 4 years ago and he’s got worse every year since.
So the great news for Manchester United fans today is that he finally looks set for a move, 8 years after joining the club.
The Guardian reports:
Nani set to leave Manchester United after agreeing terms with Fenerbahce
• Winger, who spent season on loan at Sporting, has agreed personal terms
• United are holding out for more than €5m (£3.5m) offered by Turkish club
Nani certainly isn’t without good memories at Manchester United. He won 4 Premier League trophies and a league cup plus, of course, the crowning glory of a Champions League winners medal, gained in 2008, after his penalty in the shoot out helped his team to beat Chelsea in Moscow.
He started his career at Manchester United brilliantly but faded badly and, at 28, he still doesn’t appear to have the football brain to go with his excellent raw talent.
