Now this one would be just the ticket.
Everton are clearly looking for sharper teeth up front next season and the latest name to come out of the hat is that of Xherdan Shaqiri.
He’s never quite settled at any one club and only left Bayern Munchen for Inter in January.
But Everton’s interest is said to be real as The Daily Mail revealed this week:
Everton keen on Switzerland star Xherdan Shaqiri as Inter Milan look to restructure their squad
The Guardian has reported that Inter have agreed a fee of £12m with Stoke today for his services but that they:
…have yet to discuss personal terms with the Swiss midfielder or establish if he would be interested in moving to the Britannia Stadium.
So he’s still gettable if Everton really want him.
He didn’t get much game time in his three years at Bayern Munchen and hasn’t yet exploded at Inter – where he moved in January – with 20 games and three goals to his name.
But his performances, for a very average Switzerland side at The World Cup in Brazil 2014, told us everything that we need to know about the lad. He’s strong, quick and has lovely ball control. The icing on the cake is his ability to fizz unstoppable shots into the goal mouth from almost any angle or distance.
The idea of him leaving Inter so quickly is perhaps fanciful. But we always say that there is seldom smoke without fire in the transfer market. And, even if a deal doesn’t come off, the lad could well be unsettled at his current club.
We think that, with his strength and courage, he would be revelation in The Premier League. His adaptability would also suit Everton as he could play in various positions around Romelu Lukaku.
Let’s take a look at The Alpine Messi in action. Everton fans: a no-brainer if he’s gettable?
