Gone?

Nothing is ever for certain in the transfer market. But if you were to ask us to guess how we think the summer will end for Manchester United superstar Robin van Persie, we would have to say that he will move on.

Manchester United certainly won’t let him go without signing another striker, or at least having a deal in the offing. But, having lost a yard of pace and really labouring for most of last season, we think that the player and Manchester United may decide that it’s best for both parties if the player leaves the club.

And Besiktas board member Yalcin Kaya Yilmaz has confirmed that his club are interested in signing the player. He is quoted as saying:

‘If the conditions are right and if he also wants to come we are willing to make an offer even if it would push us to the limit financially.

‘He would really get the crowd going at the Arena and sales from season tickets and merchandise alone would be able to make back our investment.’

He’s 32 in August and Van Persie will probably see his move to Manchester United as worth it for that glorious, if solitary, Premier League medal that had eluded him for so long at Arsenal.

But his second and third seasons for United were average and he doesn’t seem to be able to out think Premier League defenders and find the pockets of space that he used to with such ease.

In all likelihood he won’t be starting for Manchester United next season. He could still prove to be a vital squad member but he probably won’t be happy to warm the bench at this stage of his career.

Let’s see his best moments for the club. Manchester United fans: stick or twist with RvP?
