Manchester United: Record fee required for a world class talent – report

Do me a Rod Laver

We have long held the opinion that Manchester United would be better off keeping David de Gea for the final year of his contract than folding to the pathetic offers of Madrid.

Reports have so far indicated that Real are prepared to pay £13m for the Spanish stopper. That must be insulting even to De Gea.

Because we aren’t just talking about one of the top three keepers in the world. We are talking about a 24 year old! He still has four or five years until he reaches his prime and will solve Madrid’s keeping problem for a decade.

Meanwhile, solid sources suggest that the same club wants £46.5m for Sergio Ramos – a player who will potentially begin his professional decline in the next year.

Not many things rile us in what, after all, is just a game. But this is plain insulting. Real Madrid wouldn’t have won The Champions League without the services of ex-Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo and if they want to maintain a working relationship they need to stop taking the mickey. Stop biting the hand that has fed them so well.

De Gea- Mustard

De Gea – Mustard

This makes it all the more refreshing to hear that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will demand a word record fee for a goalkeeper for De Gea to leave for Real Madrid this summer.

The Daily Mail opines:

Manchester United want world-record £35m for David de Gea from Real Madrid… and are ready to risk losing him for FREE next year

Another year from De Gea at Manchester United or £13m from Real Madrid? We know which way we would go. It would also give De Gea time to reconsider his position at the club. A successful season at home and in Europe could easily persuade him to sign a new contract at Manchester United.
