Manchester United are bracing themselves for Real Madrid’s bid for David de Gea and have already started identifying potential replacements.
The Daily Mail report that Jose Mourinho has three options he is considering should his number one finally join the European champions after years of interest.
Joe Hart
England international Hart will not be staying with Torino, where he has spent the season on loan. As he is still officially a Manchester City player, it would be a controversial move across Manchester, but Pep Guardiola has already made it clear there is no way back for him at the Etihad – especially after the signing of Ederson.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
AC Milan teenager Donnarumma shares the same agent, Mino Raiola, with several United players, including Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Serie A side are still hoping he’ll sign a new contract and are hoping to resolve the 18-year-old’s future one way or another soon.
Samir Handanovic
Inter Milan’s Slovenian goalkeeper is 32, so he would not be a long-term replacement for De Gea. The instability at the Nerazzurri could make United an appealing prospect for the two-time Serie A goalkeeper of the year.
Mourinho may ask for a Madrid player in return if they do move for De Gea, with Alvaro Morata the man Los Blancos are most likely to offer.
