Forget all this craziness about Sergio Ramos being signed for the GDP of a small country. Manchester United should be prioritising a replacement for Michael Carrick this summer – a player who can perform at the top level for at least half a dozen years and make Manchester United impossible to break down.
We have said for a long time that there is noone better out there for this job than Morgan Schniederlin. At 25 he’s a good half decade younger than Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The German is of course a top player. But while he may well have run his best miles already, we believe that Schneiderlin is still to show his best form.
But he’s already one of the better players in The Premier League so the only question we would ask is why it has taken so long to snap him up?
Schneiderlin – Top Player
The Frenchman is pacy, intelligent, tough in the tackle, has wonderful reading of the game and scores quality goals – there is nothing not to like about him. The Daily Star reports:
Starsport understands talks with Schneiderlin are at an advanced stage, with United in pole position to beat Arsenal to the midfielder’s signature.
Southampton have accepted a bid of £20m from United, rising to £25m depending on the player’s success at Old Trafford.
We have been a little concerned with Manchester United’s reported transfer activity this summer – there are too many old players being mentioned for United to build a new team.
But this signing, along with Memphis Depay, will add genuine quality to the right areas of the team. Whoever else the club signs, Morgan could well prove to be the pick of the bunch.

I totally agree, Schneinderlin is by far a better option than schweinsteiger. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago the German would have been a fantastic option, but he struggled for game time last season and would only be a short term replacement for Carrick. Ramos is a no go and never was, he just wants a better contract off Real. Move now for Otamendi or Hummel before someone else steps in.

Morgan schneiderlin is one Amazing player I have admired as a Utd Fan, he reading of the game is fanstastic and has good when on the ball. He will be a huge addition to that midfield and in big games we could play him and carrick to get that covering for our back four. And I think if Ramos is not seriously about a deal Utd should quickly tie up deals for Otamendi and Howedes they are wonderful player.

Strongly believe that he would be a great signing compared to schweinsteiger and one I’d personally smile about. But could someone please tell LVG we don’t need Gaitan because we have Di maria, we’ve gotta focus on other areas of the pitch, otomendi for defence etc

We need more strength in depth; United could (should) have 50+ competitive games next season; when you include pre-season tournaments and international matches like Copa America and The Euro qualifiers thats a lot of games. Injuries and suspensions will also take a toll. So, buying Schneiderlin and also paying peanuts for Scheinsteiger and getting his experience, leadership qualities and all round game for 2 or 3 seasons makes sense, especially in Europe.

All those folk who think we are only 1 or 2 players away from winning the title….would they be Messi and Ronaldo? If not then we need a replacement for de Gea, a right back, a fit left back (not Rojo), a centre back, a defensive midfielder, a box to box midfielder and a 20+ goal a season centre forward. That is 7 not 2. If Valdes and Peirera are promoted then 5; if Shaw suddenly becomes iron man its 4, if RvP (assuming he stays) and Rooney find their shooting boots its 3….chances of all those things happening are very slim and Van Gaal won’t risk it.
