Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has done extremely well to keep everyone guessing as to his transfer plans for the summer.
While the media lurches from one rumour to the next, Van Gaal has largely kept his gun powder dry until now – apart from the excellent addition of Memphis Depay.
Manchester United fans will hope that he doesn’t leave it too long to make a move. With pre-season now just a couple of weeks away it would be ideal to get the major signings in place before Manchester United leave for America.
Latest reports suggest that United could be keen on two players who have already had big careers, which show no sign of slowing.
The Daily Mail reckons:
Manchester United remain keen on Germany international striker Thomas Muller, a player long admired by Louis van Gaal, but Bayern are reluctant to deal.
United, Liverpool and Roma are among clubs to have checked on Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca during the Copa America.
At 25 Muller has already scored 27 times in 63 games for Germany – he was the top scorer in 2010 and scored 10 in just 15 internationals in 2014, the year that Germany won the cup in Brazil.
Louis van Gaal seemingly likes the player who can adapt to many positions and seems to be a thorn in the side of whoever he plays.
As for Carlos Bacca, he seems to be drawing interest from several clubs this summer and we feel that a big move is inevitable. Could he be the 20 goals a season striker that Manchester United perhaps crave?
Let’s take a look at Muller in action. Manchester United fans: Would this be a top signing for the club or are his exact talents difficult to discern?
