Poor choice

There has been intense speculation over the last few days about Sergio Ramos joining Manchester United. It seems that he is unhappy about various elements of life at Real Madrid, not least his new contract offer from the club.

And it appears that many to most Manchester United fans think that this would be a great signing for the club.

It’s natural to get excited when a big name is linked and Sergio Ramos is certainly one of those. But, on further inspection, this has to be a bad deal for Manchester United. The money involved for a player who, if not already, will soon be on the wane and have little to no sell on value, makes it a very poor potential investment.

And, if his latest tweet is anything to go by, Red Nev thinks the same. The Manchester United legend is never short of an opinion and is always forthright with them.

He said:

“These reports saying 40m plus DDG for Ramos?? Please no! Nothing [against] Ramos but it can’t be right.”

Ramos - a waste of money

Ramos – a waste of money

Manchester United would effectively be selling one of the best players in the world who, at 24, has at least ten years left at the top as a keeper. In return they would be getting a player who has already run his football race and would be banking a massive pay cheque to play for a club for which he has no real affinity.

Anyone who thinks this move would be based on the footballing desires of Sergio Ramos must surely think again. This is about money and it would be a terrible deal for Manchester United.
