Reports that Tottenham are in talks with the agent of Iker Casillas will come as a double blow to many. The Express reckons:
Arsenal and Tottenham meet with Iker Casillas’ agent to discuss FREE TRANSFER
ARSENAL and Tottenham are among a host of clubs to hold talks with Iker Casillas, according to reports.
Casillas
Firstly, his last two seasons have been something of a car crash. He is one of the most decorated players in world football, having kept goal for Spain during their period of dominance and winning The Champions League three times with Real Madrid. But his country’s embarrassing failure at The World Cup seemed to mirror his own career trajectory.
Because he’s been making mistakes for too long. Casillas was shocking in Brazil 2014 and ousted from the Real Madrid team for a while. He got his number 1 jersey back for much of last season but even the player himself must be privately concerned that he is on the terminal wane.
If the 34 year old is struggling in Spain then does anyone really give him any hope of succeeding in the, physically much tougher, Premier League?
All we can say is that he wouldn’t be our choice.
Hugo LLoris
This story might also mean that Hugo Lloris is closer to the exit door. With David de Gea likely to fill the gloves of Casillas at Real Madrid, Manchester United are said to be keen and French media outlet L’Equipe reckons that a bid could be made for the lad ‘very soon’.
Casillas is surely not going to come to Spurs to sit on the bench next season. So, if there is truth to the story, could Lloris be on his way?
Let’s take a look at him in action. Tottenham fans: can you see him recovering his form or has his head gone for good?
