It’s anyone’s guess how Manchester United will line up come September – lord knows we have tried to predict it – but there are so many potential comings and goings that the reshuffle looks impossible to quantify.

There is major uncertainty over big hitters like RvP and Angel di Maria. But one deal that looks inevitable is David de Gea to Real Madrid. Much as Manchester United fans would like to keep their cat-like keeper, there is a definite sense that he will refuse a new contract at Old Trafford and hold out for a deal with Madrid.

The big question then is whether Louis van Gaal will entrust his veteran keeper, Victor Valdes, with the number one spot. It could depend on how Manchester United fare with other big deals. They might run out of cash before they get to the keeper spot and it certainly wouldn’t be a disaster to start next season with the celebrated Spaniard between the sticks.

But reports in France today suggest that Manchester United will invest in a new number 1. L’Equipe reckons:

Captain Hugo Lloris should get a concrete offer from Manchester United very soon, if the transfer of David De Gea Real Madrid materializes.

At 28 this lad is possibly more physically commanding than Valdes and has amazing technique. He’s one of the more aggressive keepers in the world and loves to come out of his box and meet the ball early.

He would certainly provide a few heart stopping moments for Manchester United fans. But, having enjoyed such a spectacular number one for the last 4 years, this may come as a welcome distraction.

We think it would be great move. Let’s see the lad in a action. Manchester United fans: the best choice?
