We have been waiting for some time – in fact since MoPo took the job – for him to reveal his transfer hand. But latest reports, from highly respected sources, suggest that Pochettino is pleasingly keen to take a punt on youth.
The Telegraph reports:
Tottenham Hotspur are targeting a move for the highly-rated French teenager Anthony Martial who will command a fee of 25million euros (£18.2million) if he is sold by Monaco.
The lad came to prominence last season when he turned out 42 times for Monaco and scored 11 goals at the age of just 19.
He’s also played at every youth level form France and scored 4 goals in 12 games for the U21s.
This is a player for whom the sky is the limit. He’s got that priceless commodity in the modern game of pace. And he looks like he knows what to do with his speed. He’s got lovely ball control and also clearly knows where the net is.
With Harry Kane coming through so strongly last year at Tottenham he will take the number 9 position next season. But Martial can play instead of, or around Kane in a variety of positions out wide or through the middle.
