Arsenal: Arsene Wenger about to make huge mistake in the transfer market according to report

Missed Opportunity?

This is why we so frequently get frustrated by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in the transfer market.

Arsenal finished the season on high and we had hoped that they would finally invest in the right areas of the team and really kick on next year. No more attacking midfielders thanks Arsene.

One player who would undoubtedly improve them at home and in Europe – by strengthening that hitherto soft centre – is the brilliant French anchor man Morgan Schneiderlin.

But latest reports suggest that Arsenal are in danger of missing the boat as they think £25m is too much to pay for a 25 year old who was one of the best players in the league last season.

The Daily Mail reckons:

Arsenal are baulking at the £25million Southampton are demanding for Morgan Schneiderlin and are considering alternatives, having been given confidence in their midfield strength by the rise of Francis Coquelin.

Yes Coquelin has been excellent. But he has only done it for one season and he could easily fall off the pace come autumn. If poor form or injury strikes then Arsenal will be in the same position when they get to the crunch games next spring.

It’s a squad game and Arsenal could use more depth in that area. If they miss this opportunity Wenger could be kicking himself as the lad excels somewhere else.

Arsenal may compensate for this by signing a player like Geoffrey Kondogbia. But they do need to bring someone else into the defensive midfield for our money.

Arsenal fans: is Coquelin enough or do you need another player in there?

Wenger might have won the cup but he will NOT win the league without the final quality players, to fill in the Jigsaw Puzzle. Wenger has always snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with the Premier League. He is a man possessed by ‘Demons’….his word not mine, and pulls the rug from under his own feat. To tell the supporters that he is not going to spend big on players leaves a bad taste in our mouths and tells us that he is going to f*** up next season before it even starts. There is no way the present squad can win the league without upgrading the squad with a couple of World Class players.

Arsenal definitely need another player in the DM position. Coquelin is a fantastic player and a fighter, but looking at Arsenal’s injury record, they must have cover in that position. Although Wilshere can play in that role as well, as he has done successfully for England, but I would rather have a specialist like Coquelin who hangs in the centre of the pitch rather than go on marauding runs in the opponent’s half.
