It is patently obvious now that, barring a David Moyes style transfer farce, Manchester United will begin next season with at least one new central midfielder in the squad. The dream would be to take Paul Pogba plus one but we feel that, with so many clubs potentially interested in the lad, Manchester United may have to ‘settle’ for another man for the engine room.
Morgan Schneidelrin is another who is now being mentioned but latest reports suggest that Bastian Schweinsteiger is the top target for Manchester United this summer. The Star says:
BAYERN MUNICH star Bastian Schweinsteiger remains Manchester United’s No.1 midfield target this summer.
109 caps and 23 goals for his country, 8 Bundesliga titles as well as a World Cup winners medal and a Champions League trophy. This guy has pretty much won the lot and is still, somehow, only 30.
There has been talk of a move for a while and we wonder whether Schweinsteiger is quite the player he was. If he was still at his top level then perhaps his club wouldn’t let him go.
Regardless, he would still be a fine acquisition or Manchester Untied, sitting in front of the defence, Carrickesque, and breaking up attacks before getting Manchester United going in the other direction.
While other midfield signings would perhaps provide more dynamism, few would be disappointed if Manchester United brought this lad to the club.
