Tottenham Transfer Rumour: Wimmer in. Surprise addition next?

The name of Kevin Wimmer has been floating around for some time in relation to Tottenham and he has finally committed to the club in a five year deal.

One would hope that the lad can offer more stability than Tottenham’s recent centre back signings who have all shown weaknesses in their game. And you do feel that if Spurs can find a top player to complement Jan Vertonghen then the Belgian, along with the whole defence, will offer a more solid foundation next season.

But Mauricio Pochettino may not stop there in terms of defensive reinforcements. There are some rumours circulating that Tottenham are keen on an Italian centre back, with TMW reporting:

After the excellent season spent at Juve Stabia, defender Marco Migliorini drew upon himself the esteem of several clubs. According to Alfredo Pedullà on Migliorini there would be the Carpi (in predicate to play in Serie A), the Spezia (Serie B) and Leeds United (English Premier League). According stabia1907.it, however, even Tottenham Hotspur would be willing to offer a million euro to sign the player.

It’s far from a concrete offer of course but he does look like an interesting prospect and we feel that Tottenham need to focus on building from the back this summer.

While the signing of a household name would be nice, clubs like Spurs may still find a lesser known bargain in the market if they have the right contacts.

At 23 Marco Migliorini has had a bit of a stop-start career but at 6ft 4.5in he would offer aerial presence in the defence.

Tottenham fans: Worth a punt or should Mauricio Pochettino be looking for an experienced, high calibre centre back to shut the back door more permanently?

He’s playing in the Italian equivalent of League 1, hardly Premier League material is it, even at 23 years of age with a transfer value of £1m ?? Spurs should go for Glik or Adennour, far better defensive options…
