Chelsea will surely look to strengthen their defence this summer – we all know what a stickler Jose is for defensive solidity.
There has been a lot of hype about Chelsea making a move for Real Madrid centre back Raphael Varane, but we think that he remains just out of their reach, with Madrid surely keen on keeping a player of such calibre.
So Chelsea may well have to look elsewhere and latest reports suggest that they may have found their alternative. Tabloid reports in England state:
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Stuttgart central defender Antonio Rudiger.
He’s got a contract until 2017 but he also apparently has a release clause of a decent £7.1m. This is a very small sum when you consider that, at just 22, the lad always has 5 caps for world champions Germany, having been ushered in to freshen things up after the World Cup triumph.
At 6ft 3in he’s an absolute monster, but one with the technical prowess to hold his own at the top level.
We think that he would make an excellent investment for Chelsea. He may find that the English Premier League, despite having many similarities with The Bundesliga, doesn’t suite him. But it’s not a particularly expensive gamble on Chelsea’s part and they would expect to make their money back if they did sell him on.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans: can you see him doing the business for The Blues in defence?
