You could count, on one hand, the amount of times that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has got it badly wrong in the transfer market. But, in the case Juan Cuadrado, he may ultimately have to chalk this one down to bad judgement.
Having appeared just 12 times since his £26.1m (€36.6m) move to Chelsea from Fiorentina in January, mainly as a substitute, Cuadrado simply hasn’t found the pulse of the English game just yet.
Many players take time to settle, when coming from another league, and Cuadrado may turn out to be a champion next season. But The Express reports that he wants out after just five months at the club:
Jose Mourinho could be forced to sell unsettled Chelsea star Juan Cuadrado
JUAN CUADRADO is hoping to push through a move away from Chelsea in the summer after joining just five months ago.
Cuadrado has many of the qualities required to be a star in The Premier League at Chelsea – he’s quick, athletic and brave. He also has nice technique. But we wonder whether he has the physique to take the knocks in England. At very least this summer he will have to bulk up if he wants to get into Jose’s first team. He needs to look a little more like Willian if he wants to make an impact.
Let’s take a look at some of his moneys for Chelsea this season. Blues fans: time to offload the lad before his value plummets?
