The Daily Mail reported last night that Tottenham have had a bid accepted for Burnley hit man Danny Ings.
Tottenham target Danny Ings with £12m move to thwart Liverpool… and Burnley accept bid
The same source suggests that Liverpool are still serious suitors for his signature but Tottenham clearly mean business, having bid so much for a player who is out of contract imminnently.
With 11 Premier League goals this season Ings has proven that he can make and score goals in the toughest of circumstances. And, at 22, he has a very bright future indeed ahead of him.
But where would he fit into the Tottenham side? Christian Eriksen will very much expect to retain his position in the side, behind the main striker. But Ings is a very adaptable player and can occupy various positions. He could play on one side of a narrow ‘3’ behind the front man.
Or he could play up top if Mauricio Pochettino decides to go with two strikers once more.
Ings has been very clear that he expects substantial game time at his next club. This will be one of the biggest factors in his decision. So Tottenham will need to make provision for him in the starting eleven.
