Is this the beginning of the end for Robin van Persie at Manchester United? Many now think so.
He was sublime in his first year at the club, look like a natural born scorer who gave everyone at the club a lesson in finishing. But this season he has been a completely different animal. He seems to have lost a lot of his mobility and the regular injuries have hampered his momentum.
You have to wonder whether he would get into the team now, if everyone was fit. We think not.
So we should take reports of a potential move form Manchester United very seriously. The Mirror reports that he will be offered a big deal elsewhere:
Robin Van Persie will be offered an £18million deal to sign for Qatari side Lekhwiya.
The Holland striker is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford with Louis van Gaal preparing a major overhaul of his attacking options this summer.
Lekhwiya are managed by former Swansea chief Michael Laudrup and they are ready to give RVP a three-year-deal worth £6m a year.
With just a year left on his huge deal at Old Trafford, Van Persie may be happy to see out his contract and play second fiddle to Wayne Rooney next season. But if Louis van Gaal brings in another striker then it may well be the end of the road for the Dutchman who wouldn’t be happy to be third in the pecking order of number 9s at Manchester United.
We still think that another Premier League club will come in for him this summer and he will only be allowed to leave if LvG finds talented cover for his captain.
Let’s see RvPs goals for the club. Manchester United fans: stick or twist?
