The Sun reports that Robin van Persie held talks with his agent this week to determine whether his future lies at Manchester United or away from the club.
ROBIN VAN PERSIE has had crunch talks with his agent as his Old Trafford future hangs in the balance.
Van Persie scored 10 in 29 games for Manchester United this season – decent stats for many strikers but not Van Persie. His role was reduced by injury sustained in the spring. But it’s questionable whether he would have started in Louis’s 4-3-3 anyway, after looking less sharp than usual in the first few months of the season.
Manchester United will more than likely offload Chicharito and Radamel Falcao in this close season. So, unless they buy another striker this summer, RvP would be the only senior cover for Wayne Rooney next season. The question is whether, at 32 in August, RvP is happy to act as understudy to the Englishman or whether he wants to the main man elsewhere. We still think that Arsenal could come in for him as a short term solution if they don’t bring in a big name themselves this summer.
FINAL WORD: This one really could go either way. If Manchester United sign another striker in the summer months then RvP should be on his way. If they don’t he could provide vital cover to Wazza.
