One of the highlights of Real Madrid’s performance in their 2-2 draw against Valencia on Saturday evening was the superb goal from a player who has oft been linked with a move to Arsenal – Isco.
The Spanish international curled a beauty for 20 yards to bring the teams level after Real Madrid went 2-0 behind in the early stages of a game which looks to have put paid to their La Liga ambitions for this season – one more win for Barca and it’s all over.
Watching the lad in action, it’s easy to draw comparisons with Arsenal’s own Jack Wilshere. Apart from the fact that they move in the same way with those bandy legs, they share many footballing qualities.
Both love to run with the ball at pace at the defence. With inject dynamism into the midfield and have great technique. Both are better suited further up the pitch.
Whether Real Madrid would want to sell is highly debatable. But do Arsenal need him?
He’s probably a more accomplished player than Wilshere at this point. He gives the ball away less and is a good team player.
The obvious argument is that Arsenal don’t need any more midfielders. But Isco is so physically strong and also adaptable that he would be hard to turn down if he was available. He could play behind the number nine or either side of him. he could even do a job in the heart of the midfield.
Arsenal should prioritise other areas of the pitch this summer but we think that Isco is good enough to improve the Gunners.
Let’s see him in action.
