Manchester United have started their summer brilliantly by pipping everyone to the post on the signing of Memphis Depay.
And Manchester United fans tend to appreciate it when the club brings young players of real quality to the club. With Rooney and Ronaldo shaping a whole football generation, its easy to see why.
And latest reports suggest that Manchester United are at the head of the queue for a player who we rate as highly as any defender in Europe. The Express reports:

If we held the purse strings at Manchester United we would be seriously tempted to sign Laporte even before Hummels. He may make a few more mistakes than the German in his first season. But, at 20 years old, he can have a career as big as Rio Ferdinand at Old Trafford.
Laporte combines the best qualities of Ferdinand and Vidic. He’s already as strong as an ox and loves to get involved in the dirty work. But he also has wonderful elegance in his game and the sort of passing precision that we remember so fondly from Rio’s decade at Manchester United.
Laporte – an absolute monster
We think that Laporte would represent even better value for money than Hummels because he can become a bedrock of the next great Manchester United generation.

I don’t see why we should sign Another 20 year old when our entire defense is 24 or younger. We still have Mcnair, Blackett, Thorpe. Jones/Smalling/Rojo are just around their 24’s.
