You’d have to say that Ashley Young is the man of the moment at Manchester United right now. But such is the form of so many United stars that there is a whole lot of back slapping going on within a very harmonious camp.

Ashley Young’s career has risen from the ashes under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, but the winger has reserved special praise for another team mate who has performed a Lazarus style comeback.

“Felli has been brilliant,” Young told MUTV. “Everyone will say the same. Since he’s come into the team, he’s been fantastic. I’ve said before that very few people can handle him. On his day, he’s unplayable. I don’t think Yaya Toure wanted to be tracking back, he wanted to be at the other end of the pitch but he had that job to do on Felli.

It’s a far cry from the last time Toure met Fellaini at Eastlands in November. In that fixture it was men against boys as Toure utterly dominated a clumsy looking Fellaini. But the Belgian has been quite simply superb during Manchester United’s recent rise back to the top. It’s not just Fellaini’s aerial dominance that has caught the eye. Over the last couple of months his technique has improved beyond all recognition. We think that he has to now be in with a shout for Player of the Season at Manchester United.

But that accolade may well yet go to Young himself, who possibly played his best game of the season against Manchester City.

Manchester United fans: With the likes of Herrera, Mata, Fellaini, De Gea and Young playing out of their skin, is this now becoming one of the most difficult seasons to pick a best performer? And who is your player of the year?
