After a protracted period out injured Robin van Persie has buoyed the Manchester United fans by declaring that he is back training with the first team.
The 31 year old Manchester United star, who has played 26 times and scored 10 goals this season, suffered an ankle injury during the Swansea game on February 21st. But, after more than month on the sidelines he’s clearly excited to be back in contention for a place in the side.
Back to training with the group today. Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game!
Even this season – not regarded as one of his best – he has maintained a good scoring record. But with the team playing out of their skins right now, Van Persie is going to have a real fight on his hands to get back into the team. Unless Louis van Gaal once more changes his Manchester United formation, which has become a really winning formula for The Dutchman, then we can see RvP having to endure long periods on the bench between now and the end of the season as Wayne Rooney continues to lead the line with great aplomb.
Manchester United fans: does RvP go back into your team when fully fit?
