Chelsea have spent a lot of money on the proven class of the likes of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas over the last year. But there is surely nothing better for the fans than to see a young player get signed and then develop into a world star.
It hasn’t happened too often at Chelsea but Cesc himself wowed the Arsenal fans week on week when he became a star at 16 at The Emirates and Manchester United enjoyed Cristiano Ronaldo’s progress like few other signings before or since.
So it will come as exciting news to Chelsea fans that the the club could be on the cusp of buying a young player who may well get some minutes in the first team straight away, rather than being sent out on loan like many of The Blues’ young acquisitions.
The Daily Mail reports that a young Brazilian forward is close to joining the club.
Chelsea favourites to sign Brazilian starlet Kenedy from Fluminense
Globoesporte reported on Tuesday that a deal is being finalised with Fluminense president Peter Siemsen.
The source says that the deal is being helped by the fact that the player’s agent is ex-Chelsea star Deco, who also represents Oscar, Willian and Ramires.
Kenedy (full name Robert Kenedy Nunes do Nascimento) has socred 5 goals in 36 games for Fluminense this season and has forced his way in the side at the age of just 19. He played 13 times and scored 6 goals for the Brazil U17s before progressing to the U20 side (7 games and one goal).
Not much else is known about him but, as you will see from the clip, his football does the talking. He’s already a big, strong lad with great feet, very much in keeping with a Chelsea/Jose Mourinho number 9.
Let’s see him in action. Chelsea fans: should the club be putting an emphasis on youthful signings this summer?
