Everton manager Roberto Martinez seems intent on adding pace out wide to this side and that drive looks set to continue in the summer if latest reports are to be believed.
The Sunday People claims that Martinez has made an enquiry about the highly sought after talents of Andre Ayew:
Roberto Martinez has attempted to steal a march on his competition this summer by making an early move for Marseille winger Andre Ayew, writes Tom Hopkinson in the Sunday People.
The Everton chief is understood to have spoken to the Ghanaian flier about a switch to Merseyside after making a personal trip to France.
Ayew’s name has come up many times in the rumour mills over the last year as his stock has risen sharply. At 25 he has already played 62 times for Ghana and was crowned African footballer of the Year in 2011, aged just 22.
Nominally a winger but he can also play through the middle as a second striker, Ayew is on the ball, dynamic and direct. He also has the pace to get away from defenders and delivers a consistent final ball.
We have no doubt that he would be an excellent signing for Everton but they won’t be the only team after him this summer. He currently plays for Marseille, where he has hit 56 goals in 185 games, and is also said be be interesting the likes of Roma in Italy’s Serie A.
Let’s take a look at the lad in a action. Everton fans: would this be the almost perfect summer acquisition?
