PICTURE: Manchester United’s best XI vs Spurs after injury update – Louis simply must pick this side

Round pegs, round holes

Groundhog day persists at Manchester United as the whole remains less than the sum of the parts. A top manager is supposed to get the best out of his side. But it hasn’t happened for Louis so far. He continues to struggle with his formation and tactics as Manchester United resemble a pale imitation of their former selves.

But perhaps big games are exactly what this club needs right now. The last 10 fixtures in Manchester United’s league calendar include clashes against all the big boys and a win against Tottenham could set them on a roll. The fact remains that, unlike last season, Manchester United have their destiny in their hands.

Furthermore the early season injury problems have lessened and Louis reported knocks to only Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo and Robin van Persie in his weekly press conference on Friday. Of the three, only RvP is definitely out. Of the Dutchman, Van Gaal said:

“He is still with the medical department. He is always training but is training inside, not outside on the pitch.”

Angel di Maria and Jonny Evans are both suspended for this one but Louis still has a fine group to pick from. We would like to see him start with Valencia in a more orthodox position on the wing. Tony V can’t beat a man like he used to but he still offers pace and dynamism going forward and has been awful in defence of late. So LvG will surely throw Rafa in there and give the Brazilian a chance to impress in these last ten games.

We would also like to see Falcao start. Despite his poor form, Manchester United fans want to see more of him. With RvP out this is surely the best time to give him minutes. Fellaini is surely not the answer up top.

In general a 4-2-3-1 should be employed with Rooney in the hole and some genuine width coming from Januzaj and Antonio. Herrera’s hooking at half-time vs Arsenal suggests that Blind and Carrick will sit in front of the defence. But we thought that the Spaniard was one of the better performers against The Gunners and he at least tried to pass the ball forward in a creative manner from the midfield. Blind is composed but doesn’t add much to the team right now. Carrick is currently a far better player.

So here is our XI vs Tottenham in a must win encounter for Manchester United. United fans: let’s have your thoughts.

But what’s wrong with Mata and Rafael? why are they not playing? honestly LVG is doing us injustice by sitting Mata and ignoring Rafael yet Mata is the on of the most creative players in United and Rafael is today’s best No. 2 in United. Playing Antonio in a wrong position costed us the Arsenal game on Monday….

I suggest that he uses a 4-4-2 against Spurs in order to play players in their right position…

Why not play Di Maria in No. 11???
