Despite the unbelievable form of Harry Kane this season, there is little doubt that Tottenham will sign another striker or two in the summer. Kane will need some help in the next campaign and we can’t see Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado remaining at the club beyond this summer – they represent expensive flops that the wage bill could well do without.

And reports this weekend suggest that Tottenham are keen to bring unsettled Toffees striker Romelu Lukaku to the club. The Daily Mail writes:

Romelu Lukaku a transfer target for West Ham and Tottenham as Everton striker considers Goodison Park exit

As you will know, Lukaku only signed a huge deal at Goodison last summer. But, his form hasn’t been quite as convincing as it was when he was on loan at the same club the year before, and the source says that the player has hinted that he wants to leave the club.

Let’s make no mistake. At 21 he is an excellent player with big career ahead. He can lead the line alone and is a brilliant finisher who can play in a few positions across the attack.

Would he fit in at Tottenham? Well he and Kane do have a lot of similar qualities as big target men. They wouldn’t immediately spring to mind as the perfect combination and, for the sort of money Tottenham would be paying for the Belgium international (35 cops and 8 goals), you would expect that he would be selected more often than not.

But he’s a powerful goalscorer with many years left in the tank – a good investment for Tottenham.

Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans: would you be happy to spend a big chunk of the kitty on this guy?
