Latest reports state that Manchester United are preparing a huge bid for Edinson Cavani this summer, as their faith in Radamel Falcao wanes. The Star says:
MANCHESTER United are plotting a £60m (81.1m Euros) swoop for Edinson Cavani after deciding to ditch Radamal Falcao.
If you had offered us Cavani or Falcao last summer we would have taken the latter without any question. While Cavani is a great finisher, at his best, the Colombian has more to his game. He’s also much more likely to serve up something spectacular, which always goes down well at Manchester United.
But, with just 17 games at most left in Manchester United’s season, time is running out for Falcao to prove his worth to the first team. We still think that he can be United’s top striker but it’s now or never for him to start banging the goals in. His touch and hold up play haven’t been anywhere near as good as we are used to seeing either. And the £43m that it will take to prise him from Monaco is looking more expensive by the day.
It’s a big decision and you imagine that Falcao will have to do a hell of a lot more before Manchester United considering paying the money.
Cavani hasn’t had three big knee injuries like Falcao and arguably offers a lower risk long-term investment. He has a similar goals to games ratio as Radamel and there has been almost daily speculation that he will leave PSG this summer.
