Tottenham linked with at least two more deals before deadline

Deal?

Reports in the weekend papers continue to suggest that Tottenham could do some more streamlining before the end of the window.

The London Evening Standard reports:

Roma tracking Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado as they seek replacement for Mattia Destro

Both or either could leave the club and it wouldn’t make a huge difference right now. Indeed, many Tottenham fans would like to see the back of both. But, if Big Harry gets injured, there would be little else to replace him so the departure of just one would be great for now.

Meanwhile, The Hull Daily Mail reckons that Aaron Lennon could be on his way to the club over the next few days:

HULL City are closing in on deals to sign Aaron Lennon from Tottenham Hotspur and Dame N’Doye from Lokomotiv Moscow, as they look to make a bold statement in the final days of the transfer window.

You get the feeling that Mauricio Pochettino isn’t the biggest fan of Lennon and he may eventually be seeking the more calculated talents of someone like Kevin Mirallas.

But the Tottenham coach hasn’t panicked in the market since he arrived and we applaud that. The good thing for Tottenham fans is that the club and coach are clearly gearing up for a substantial summer in the market. We doubt that they will buy en masse like they did in 2013. But money will be available for a proper centre back, midfielder and a striker to add real quality to the ranks.

With the current streamlining going on you would imagine the coffers will be nicely swelled in time for the next window.

Tottenham fans: would you be happy to get rid of Lennon and a striker at this stage, without any real prospect of replacements in January?

Yes I’d applaud getting rid of Adebayor and even Soldado who has had more than enough time to prove himself, if we could find an immediate replacement, if that wasn’t possible then just Ade should go as he offers the least return on his ridiculous wages. Re. Lennon then that’s a personal thing with Poch. who doesn’t seem to rate him. I’m willing to go along with the manager and trust him on that. Certainly Lennon hasn’t continued his upward curve that he promised as a young pacey winger, and I think he’s now flat-lining. Having said that I prefer him to Townsend personally as I think when he does play well he’s unplayable.

Go back to championship manager. It’s like you didn’t see what mass influx of players with no prem experience did last season. Total Joke.

We would then have to play the whole 2nd half of the season with 1 striker. What happens when Kane gets either knackered or injured. Most top sides have 4 strikers in their squad. We went into the season 1 striker light to further deplete the squad is folly. Who is going to sell a top striker in this window? When has a striker signed in Jan window come into the prem and hit the ground running? This is reality not championship manager. Soldado is on about 85k a week.. If you had a clue his wages offer the least return of ANY player on our books. Ade hasn’t been great this season but he has proven with Arsenal, City and Spurs that he can score goals in the prem, Soldado clearly hasn’t. Ade has scored 41 goals in 106 games for Spurs in all comps. Soldado has scored 15 in 55! With only £15k a week difference in wages only an imbecile would say Ade offers the least return. Have to laugh at the know nothing agenda wielding keyboard warriors.

Why not try lamela up front instead of the proposed Chadli?
Lamela keeps losing the ball in dangerous areas of the field…. Playing up front will eliminate that, he can then focus on doing rabona’s.
I honestly think it could be his best option at Spurs and save us 30 odd mill for a new striker and can use that for a defender. COYS

Derek , The players you recommend to buy have all been disappointing in recent matches. Benteke was hopeless against the Arse today, and watching the Derby highlights noted how classy and influential Bent looked in comparison. Ings has recently been struggling. Bringing in the managers ex sidekick might upset the dressing room balance re senior players with negative consequences.

Chinches, Paulinho and Soldado have recently put in acceptable performances. Dembele has been good, especially whrhen supporting the left side of defence when christian does not track back.
      Lamella-ignoring the 29m punt-is a young player making progress.

Agree with White Hot Lane n Derek.

Esp Ade ( too many stories to tell, excusess),

N Get d Striker, fearless-Benteke type to un-burden young Kane., N a commanding midfielder Schneiderlin to boss d midfield for Spurs.
Try harder Mr Levy n POCH. Schneiderlin has a good relationship w Poch in S’Ton.
Trust is important n vital between manager n player, Not only money, but you r happy playing.
