It seems that the new FIFA regulations have changed the face of the football world. Down the road at Chelsea Jose is now wheeler-dealing on a one in, one out basis. You could never have foreseen that a few years ago when they were throwing their money and yachts about like noone’s business.

And Tottenham too seem to have embraced the austerity of it all. They are looking to streamline their squad as well as adding quality.

One player who looks like a dead man walking at Tottenham is Aaron Lennon – a popular figure at the club but we always felt that he was a classic example of a player with great natural attributes but who never got his head up enough.

Anyway, latest reports suggest that Tottenham wast to resurrect a deal for Everton’s Kevin Mirallas, with Lennon pegging it (with his head down) the other way.

The Mirror states:

Tottenham are making a late move for Everton forward Kevin Mirallas before the Monday night transfer deadline.

Spurs are seeking a straight swap of the Belgian forward for their England winger Aaron Lennon but the Toffees don’t value the two players as equals

Lennon of course has more pace. But Mirallas, who starred for Belgium at The World Cup, is a better player. He’s technically better and gets his head up more. If you could combine the talents of both you would have a very special footballer indeed. As it is, we would take the Belgian – and he’s no slouch either.

We saw him in the flesh when Everton came to White Hart Lane last year and he was the best player on the park that day.

Let’s take a look at him in action. Tottenham fans: would this be a good move or has Lennon still got something to offer Spurs?

Lennon is home grown, Mirallas isn’t. Spurs already have 17 non-homegrown players on their list. Spurs would have to remove a non-homegrown player to accommodate Mirallas.

Spurs only have 6 home grown players so can add two more home grown players.
I don’t believe Mirallas is a significant upgrade for any position.

Unless Spurs manage to move an O/S player it’s not realistic to expect them to purchase another.

Keep Lennon at all costs give him a chance at a return to the first team just like so many others got and who never deserved the chance and could not handle the premiership .

Its not just Lennon who should be going , I could pick a number of ones, like soldado , ade , let’s face it ,what a waste of money and wages !
Lol Defoe should never been shipped out !!! Let’s be honest Lennon done a lot more than others ,, only thing is he still looks capable ,we have one quality player in every position , the rest team can be picked out of a hat !Defoe will score 8 before end season ,and add , soldado 120 a week
    For doing nothing !!!!!!!!!
