Manchester United are ready to offer a contract to young right back Sadik El Fitouri according to reports. The Salford City youngster, who also spent time at arch-rivals Manchester City, was apparently exceptional during a recent trial at Manchester United and The Daily Mail says that United are just about ready to pounce:

Manchester United are ready to offer a contract to Salford City trialist Sadik El Fitouri.

Sportsmail revealed how the 20-year-old right-back, who only joined Salford in December, had impressed staff during a game between United’s Under 21s and first team fringe players.

He has continued to impress in training and in games and United are willing to offer an 18-month deal.

Manchester United have certainly had problems on the right side over the last couple of seasons. We always felt that Rafael da Silva would eventually grow out of the impetuous streak, which regularly blights his otherwise industrious performances, and become a star at the club. But we haven’t yet been able to find out conclusively because the young Brazilian twin never seems to play more than a couple of games before hobbling off the pitch, half way through a match, feeling his groin.

Antonio Valencia has been a fair understudy but he has been badly caught out a few times and simply isn’t a natural defender. Phil Jones has been ok there but Chris Smalling looked like Bambi on ice when he played there under David Moyes.

So Manchester United need reinvigorate that whole area of the park and perhaps this is a step in the right direction.
