Latest reports state that Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle is set to have a medical at Wolfsburg on Friday in what should signal a sudden flurry of activity at the West London club.
The Daily Mail reports:
Andre Schurrle to have Wolfsburg medical as Chelsea star closes in on £27m transfer
The source also says that personal terms have been agreed between club and player but that they are waiting for the green light from Chelsea to complete the move.
And it’s pretty safe to assume that the green light will come when Chelsea get the Juan Cuadrado deal over the line. The whole move looks entirely probable at this point as Chelsea look to upgrade on Schurrle with a player of supreme pace and dynamism. Cuadrado is very much like Willian but possibly even quicker and with even more end product.
The big question now is whether Chelsea will pursue the Douglas Costa deal. You could view this in three ways:
a) he was only ever a bargaining pawn in Chelsea’s attempts to get Fiorentina to sell Cuadrado
b) he was their second choice if the deal for the Colombian failed
c) they want him too, as he can play in a variety of positions
But with Chelsea close to their limit on overseas talent you would imagine that they will be more than happy to just bring Cuadrado in at this point. Costa will be very unhappy.
But Chelsea fans should expect some positive news on this one in a massive weekend for the club.
Let’s see Cuadrado in action again.
