Chelsea’s worst fears realised – Is this now their Best XI vs City?

Cruel Blows

It’s all gone a bit south for Chelsea over the last 24 hours. Despite the cup semi final win they suddenly look like a team in a tad of trouble.

Because after a season which has been largely injury free Chelsea may have lost their two main men for the title clash with a Manchester City side who will now be licking their lips at a trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Independent reports that, after being charged with misconduct by the FA for his stamp in the Capital One Cup, Diego Costa will probably be banned for the weekend game.

Diego Costa is almost certain to miss Saturday’s Premier League match against Manchester City after the Chelsea striker was hit with a violent conduct charge by the Football Association

And The Guardian follows that up with the second whammy in this cruel double whammy.

Cesc Fàbregas likely to miss Manchester City game with hamstring injury

The report says that Fabregas could still make the game on Saturday (kick off 17:30) – and let’s not get too downbeat on behalf of Chelsea.

They do, after all, have some other seriously good match winners in their number. Eden Hazard and Willian can win games alone. And Chelsea’s back up strikers aren’t too bad either are they?

The wizardry of Fabregas would obviously be missed but Chelsea can bring players like Ramires into the team who will do more than simply make up the numbers.

With all that in mind we have selected a team for the weekend – assuming that the main men don’t make it but that Branislav Ivanovic recovers from his cut foot in time for the game.

Chelsea fans: do you still feel confident that this team can at least get a draw in the crunch clash at the weekend?

Let’s have your thoughts and your elevens as usual.

Not too bad, but zouma sh’d keep his place ahead of cahill after such a fine display against liverpool on tuesday, considering cahill’s howful performances vs tottenham & bradford or so… in FA cup, I go with courtois, ivanovic (if fit), zouma, terry, azpilcueta, Matic, ramires, willian, oscar, hazard, drogba and win the game 2-1!!
