Southampton to sign another forward

With Shane Long out for a while with a punctured lung and broken ribs it seems that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is looking to beef up his attack.

If reports are to be believed, he is about to do a deal for another relative unknown in The Premier League. But he has a pretty good record with his signings so far doesn’t he?

The Daily Mail reports:

Southampton are signing Serbia international Filip Djuricic on loan from Benfica.

The 22 year old can play in various positions, as an attacking midfielder or up top. He spent the last year of his youth career at Olympiacos before moving to Heerenveen in Holland in 2010 after a stint at Radnički Obrenovac .

The Dutch league suited him and he scored a decent 26 in 111 games for the club before moving to Benfica in 2013. He didn’t immediately do the business there and has been on loan to Mainz this season where he is yet to score a goal in a dozen matches.

You might say that this journeyman status means he doesn’t settle well at clubs. On the flip side, he has an awful lot of experience for one so young and that can only bode well for him in England at Southampton.

As further proof of his quality he has played 19 times for Serbia and scored 4 goals in that time.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Southampton fans: do you like the look of this young creator?
