Chelsea players expect imminent deal for forward – report

Reports this afternoon suggest that Chelsea are on the cusp of selling Andre Schurrle. According to The Daily Mail, the Chelsea players are expecting him to leave for his homeland to team up with Wolfsburg, after a disappointing couple of years at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea players believe Andre Schurrle will agree his return to Germany over the weekend.

The 24-year-old is the subject of an offer from Wolfsburg, as reported by Sportsmail, and is keen to join them and kickstart his career.

In fact the player has done pretty well when he’s had the chance. Last season he managed over 40 appearances for the club and scored at a rate of about 1 in 4, usually from a wide position.

He is an excellent player but we think that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants another speed demon for the squad and this sale may well be the prelude to a deal for the excellent Juan Cuadrado of Fiorentina.

Reports on Wednesday night suggested that Chelsea had made an offer for the player and that the club were in talks over the signature of the Colombian.

But the noises from Fiorentina today suggest that the club are digging their heels in over any potential transfer.

Sky Sports quoted Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella as saying:

“I believe as of today there are no possibilities he will leave Fiorentina,” he said. “He knows this, he knows that these situations get exaggerated.

“I’m not angry with the media, in this case I’m not referring to the media, but to football.

“All that is being said is just talk and nothing more. The player is not involved in all of this.”

This stance could be representative of the fact that Chelsea haven’t yet met the desired fee for the player and we shall keep you updated as events unfold.

Let’s see Cuadrado in action. Chelsea fans: is Juan an upgrade on Andre?
