Manchester United look ready to do business if the right player presents himself in January.
And one of the players most regularly and strongly linked to Manchester United in January has been Ron Vlaar of Aston Villa.
The 29 year old has had a brilliant year and many feel that he would be a great quick fix to add experience and composure to a Manchester United defence which has, at times this season, been at sixes and sevens.
But, in a hammer blow for any hopes that the lad had of a big move, The Daily Express reports that Vlaar has suffered an injury that will keep him out for the next 6 weeks.
Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar ruled out for six weeks with knee injury
And manager Paul Lambert said:
“ Now, with this injury, I’m pretty sure as well that no one will be coming in for Vlaar.”
This will surely prohibit any move for the lad as he would probably be unable to undergo a prtoepr medical ahead of a move to Manchester United.
You did feel that it was a case of now or never fro Vlaar to Manchester United and it now appears as if that ship has sailed.
Let’s see Vlaar in action. Manchester United fans: a big miss or has the club dodged a bullet?
