He’s been on the radar of pretty much every elite club in Europe over the last couple of months. But few will be surprised that Real Madrid appears now to be the destination of the sensational youngster Martin Odegaard.
Real Madrid rarely fail when they really set these sights on a player and latest reports imply that the brilliant Norwegian is on his way back to the club to complete a move. British media outlet The Express states:
Norway international Odegaard, 16, has landed in Madrid and could sign papers with the Liga club as early as Wednesday morning.
It’s an interesting choice for the lad. Obviously he has been impressed by the set up at the biggest club in the world. But if he does sign for Los Blancos it immediately raises questions about what he will do next.
Even is he is as good as the hype suggests, he simply doesn’t have the physique or experience to get straight into the first team. But a player of this quality won’t be wanting to play too much reserve football. Odegaard will want to be involved in proper competitive football.
So, you would imagine that he will stay with his current club for some time, or make another loan move. He’s quickly outgrowing the Norwegian league so perhaps we can expect him to make an exciting loan move to another league.
Whatever happens the scrutiny on this lad will only intensify if he does join Real Madrid. Let’s hope that they look after him and he develops into a world class talent rather than letting all the publicity affect him adversely.
Let’s see Odegaard in action. Real Madrid fans: what next for the lad?
