Simply not good enough to play for Arsenal

Poor

We have been banging on about it for some time and Arsenal finally look to be doing something about their number 1 spot. Because, despite a decent season last time out, keeper Wojciech Szczesny simply isn’t good enough to play for Arsenal.

We remember Ben Foster at Manchester United. He had really good qualities. He was strong, agile and charismatic. But you always felt that there was a mistake in him. And, periodically, he would lose the confidence of the fans with a howler.

It’s a similar scenario with Arsenal’s current number one who doesn’t fill anyone with confidence. His response to giving away a soft goal at Southampton was to listlessly sip his water bottle – he looked like a beaten man.

Outfield players can make mistakes and get away with it. But the cruel reality for top keepers is that they must be almost flawless. De Gea and Courtois reach those levels. But Arsenal’s stopper get’s nowhere near.

Arsenal need to now give David Ospina an extended run in the team and try to get a top keeper in during this window. The signing of Petr Cech may be in the outer reaches of probability. But Arsene Wenger should at least make the enquiry – call in a favour form when he allowed Ashley Cole to go. Do anything. Just get a keeper in between the sticks who won’t undo all of Arsneal’s good work in a moment of madness.

Arsenal fans: can Szczesny come back to the boil or is it time to let the lad go and bring in some proven class?

He needs to go , I was at southampton and I have never seen anything like it ,
at times he was in the centre circle , don’t get me wrong the whole team was poor , but he was past belief ,time for changes, time for wenger to earn his wages , first job is to loose the liabilities
