Silly

Not this one again. Almost inevitably, with a Dutchman at the helm at Manchester United, the name of Wesley Sneijder has surfaced in the rumours mills once more.

Yes, he’s a really good goalscoring midfielder who could be a decent addition to the squad. But, with Louis van Gaal so concerned with the overall balance of the squad, would yet another natural number 10 be the answer?

Sneijder can play in central midfield also but, with players like Herrera, Fellaini and Mata desperate for a game, would the veteran be a good investment? We think not.

He’s 31 in June and he would cost a fortune in wages so it would surely represent the short term fix that Manchester United head honcho Ed Woodward told us that the club would avoid in the winter.

Nevertheless The Express is running the story as if this is a player that Manchester United may still be keen to sign:

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told they will have to stump up £15m in order to land Wesley Sneijder.

The source says that Juventus could also be keen but, at that price, we don’t think that many clubs are going to be interested.

Sneijder is a top player but his time to move to Manchester United was a few summers back. Surely the club should be concentrating on younger players now.

Manchester United fans: would you still like to see him at the club?
