After watching another patchy defensive display from their team against Stoke, Manchester United fans will feel that it’s time to invest in another defender this January.
Of course, with their aerial process and set-piece acumen, Stoke could make a top defence look poor. But there is currently a lack of composure and quality of passing out of the back line from the three main centre backs – Evans, Jones and Smalling. Manchester United may improve when Marcos Rojo returns but we think they need a leader in there – a player to take the baton from the likes of Rio, Jaap, Nemanja and Steve Bruce.
Latest reports would have us believe that the perfect solution, Mats Hummels, is ready to leave Borussia Dortmund in this window, despite the fact that his team is still in Europe. Dortmund have been in a nosedive in the league and Hummels is said to be getting restless.
The Daily Star reports:
Man Utd and Arsenal target Mats Hummels torn on future destination after Dortmund collapse
The Borussia Dortmund centre-back is on his way out of the Bundesliga during the transfer window, according to reports in Germany.
At 26 this guy is in his absolute pomp. He’s cemented a place with world champions Germany and has recently been made captain of Borussia Dortmund. He’s strong, clever and a super passer of the ball. We think he will be a revelation in The Premier League.
Let’s see some highlights.
