Manchester United worry: ‘Noone is happy when they are not playing’ says star as future looks less than certain

What a player

This is a frustrating one for everyone concerned. Any follower of the world game will know that, when fit, Radamel Falcao is among the very best on the planet – a true force of nature when in the zone on the field of play.

But the ‘when fit’ caveat is salient here. Because Falcao has had terrible luck with injuries and hasn’t been able to get a run in the team since he joined Manchester United in the summer.

And the player has fuelled speculation about his future by suggesting that he is unsure what will happen, moving forward.

The Guardian reports:

Asked if he would like to sign permanently, Falcao admitted to being unsure whether Van Gaal wants him to stay. “From my point of view, yes, but obviously I have to analyse the situation, see if I play more and see what decision the board takes,” he said.

Of course no team in the world could afford to keep a player this expensive if he isn’t paying his way with top performances each month.

Falcao was at pains to point out that he wants to stay at Manchester United however:

“But, from my point of view, I really want to stay.”

“Every footballer wants to play, no one is happy when they are not playing, when they are on the bench, but whenever I am given the opportunity, whether it be for five, 10, 20 or 90 minutes, I have to give my best,”

He also said that the lines of communication between him and Van Gaal have been good:

He has talked to Van Gaal about his playing more. “We talk a lot, the coach and I. He has a philosophy that I respect. I have had an injury, and I have had to wait for the opportunity to play,”

It’s a make or break few months for Falcao at Manchester United. The most important thing is that he simply has to keep himself fit from now on. From that perspective, Louis van Gaal is probably doing the right thing in holding the player back until he is absolutely 100%.

But we believe that if you Falcao can remain fit then everything else will fall into place for the player – because he’s an absolute superstar and Manchester United will be desperate to keep him if he starts banging in the goals.

And we think that his Manchester United career could really kick off at Aston Villa this weekend. This is surely Falcao’s time.

United fans: will Falcao start this weekend?
