More Good news for Everton

After a sluggish start to the season, helped in no small part by key injuries, Everton have begun to motor once more.

With a fully fit squad there is no limit to what Everton can achieve this season and Roberto Martinez will be further buoyed by the news that Arouna Kone will soon be returning to the first team, after making another appearance for the development side on Tuesday night.

In a 1-1 draw with Celtic U21s Kone looked lively in the first 45 minutes, creating several chances, before being withdrawn at half time.

Kone’s career never really got going at Everton with injury putting paid to his season last autumn. He seemed like he had it all to prove when he arrived at Goodison. But, knowing what we do now about the brilliance of Roberto Martinez, we feel confident that Kone can surprise a few people.

We always liked the player. He’s a hard working pro but is also blessed with great technique and good pace. He can do a job anywhere along the front line and his quality will add another significant string to Everton’s bow. Although Everton already have an impressive strike force we think that Kone will see substantial game time when fit.

Let’s remind ourselves of the quality of the lad in full flight. Everton fans: a bench warmer or someone who can get a start in time?
