Everton look as if the improving form of the team will generate some interest in players like Seamus Coleman over the next couple of windows.

But Roberto Martinez has been aggressive in his desire to hold onto his best players and will instead look to find reinforcements of his own in the transfer market in January.

One really good player could arrive from Scotland – a footballing nation which has been fruitful for Everton over the years.

The Daily Mail suggests that Everton are keen on a dynamic young Rangers midfielder:

Everton and Burnley are tracking Rangers midfielder Lewis Macleod as they weigh up possible bids in the January transfer window.

Aged just 20, but with good maturity, Macleod has been a brilliant player for Rangers scoring 16 in 72 appearances for the club from the midfield. He’s also forcing his way into Gordon Strachan’s thinking for Scotland but has so far only turned out for the U21s (8 games, 2 goals).

At 5ft 9in he’s a fairly diminutive character but, coming form Scotland, he’s grown up with physical leagues and The English Premier League would be a natural step for someone with his talent.

We could definitely see Everton making a move for this lad. Let’s take a look at him in action. Everton fans: another exciting youngster?
